The Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will be a crucial member of the Marketing Leadership Team, and you will be a key contributor to both the Marketing organization and the company overall. This highly visible role will interact with Couchbase leadership including the broader Go-To-Market (GTM) organization. This opportunity is ideal for a leader with a passion for driving demand and achieving improvements that drive efficiency and measurable outcomes. As a team, we are excited by attacking hard problems, and want someone who excels at operational rigor while driving progressive improvements and has a strategic vision for demand processes.

The Organization 

This role will report to the Chief Marketing Officer, John Kreisa. The Marketing organization consists of five teams; Communications, Field Marketing, Product Marketing, Developer Engagement, Partner Alliances and Demand Generation. Travel to our Santa Clara headquarters will be expected, with flexibility in how we structure that. 

The Role

  • Marketing Systems and Process Expertise:
    • Leverage deep expertise in marketing automation systems, CRM platforms, and other relevant technologies to optimize and streamline demand generation processes specific to Couchbase's offerings.
    • Implement and enhance marketing systems for efficient lead generation, scoring, and nurturing tailored to the unique needs of Couchbase's target audience.
  • Campaign design, execution and measurement:
    • Oversee the flawless execution of demand generation campaigns for Couchbase, ensuring precision and consistency across all marketing materials and communications.
    • Analyze data insights to refine and improve demand generation programs continuously, taking into account the specific nuances of Couchbase's market positioning.
  • Enterprise Software and Database Market Penetration:
    • Apply extensive experience in marketing for enterprise software solutions and the database market to develop and execute targeted demand generation strategies for Couchbase.
    • Create awareness and demand within key personas of developers, architects and ITDMs.
    • Collaborate with product marketing to articulate compelling value propositions for Couchbase's NoSQL database solutions.
  • Product-Led Growth Leadership:
    • Infuse product-led growth principles into demand generation strategies for Couchbase, driving user acquisition and engagement through the seamless experience of our cutting-edge database products.
    • Collaborate closely with the Product team to align demand generation efforts with Couchbase's product development cycles and feature releases.
  • Cross-Functional Demand Strategy:
    • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute integrated demand generation plans aligned with Couchbase's business goals.
    • Collaborate closely with sales, field marketing, partner marketing, product marketing, and other key stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and strategy across all customer touchpoints specific to Couchbase's market presence.
  • Sales Development strategy:
    • Drive the Couchbase sales development team to align demand generation efforts with sales priorities in the dynamic landscape of NoSQL databases.
    • Establish and maintain strong communication channels between demand generation and Couchbase sales teams to facilitate efficient lead handoff and conversion.

What you’ll need (Capabilities)

  • Experience in demand generation with a focus on enterprise software, marketing to technical buyers including developers, with a minimum of 10+ years of experience
  • Lead Yourself: 
    • An orientation towards using data to derive analytical insight to inform your approach. 
    • Strong orientation towards building for scale, leveraging demand team skills, processes and technology.
    • Ability to combine strategic, progressive practices with meeting key marketing standards.
    • Demonstrates our company values, in particular an appetite for making tomorrow better than today and attacking hard problems, while being a good human, always. 
  • Lead The Team: 
    • Experience leading global demand generation teams focused on end to end digital demand generation.
    • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead The Business: 
    • Ability to align demand activity to company revenue goals and targets
    • Experience in building, transforming and executing a global demand generation strategy coordinated with field and partner events
    • A proven history of tracking, analyzing and driving key demand metrics from the marketing funnel through to sales opportunities.
    • Success in driving effective demand generation programs tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities in the database industry is a plus.
    • In-depth knowledge of marketing automation systems, CRM platforms, and other relevant technologies.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a keen understanding of Couchbase's market positioning.
    • Prior experience with product-led growth strategies is highly desirable.

The anticipated starting base pay range for this role is listed below. Base salary is not the only component of our competitive total rewards package - you may also be eligible for bonus, commissions, equity, and other benefits as described below. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
