Overview:

Veeco's process equipment solutions enable the manufacture of cutting-edge wireless chips, displays, power electronics, compound semiconductors and advanced chip packaging. We are the market leader in laser annealing and advanced packaging lithography solutions.Our high-performance systems drive innovation in device energy efficiency, which allows our customers to maximize device performance, improve productivity and achieve lower cost of ownership. Veeco is looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineer with design, prototype integration and qualification experience.

**This position is mainly onsite but can be done remotely when appropriate.**

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design of hardware and software features, prototype integration, and testing of assemblies, subsystems, and systems
  • Create and execute experimental test plans and perform analysis to validate system performance
  • Troubleshoot systems and subsystem issues and work with various teams to find and implement solutions
  • Participate in small team efforts that address product-level issues (such as design issues, supplier issues, manufacturing escalations, or improvement projects)
  • Develop and evaluate concepts and designs for next-generation systems
  • Interface with all disciplines to enable optimal and effective designs

Qualifications:

B.S. degree in atechnical engineeringfield and aminimumof 5years ofexperience or a Master's degree with 3years of experience or a PhDis required.Semiconductor or similar industry experience is preferred. Experience with designing and executing test plans is required.

Experience with product development process, requirements definition and requirements validation is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to break down complex problems with limited data to come to solutions - strong critical thinking capability
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (customer and supplier interfaces)
  • Commitment to achieving results while under time constraints, with a high level of energy and a high level of dedication
  • Willing to dive into complex issues, determine the root causes and propose practical solutions
  • Ability to interface with product Optical and Software Engineers to troubleshoot and design tool operation and custom validation setups
  • Ability to perform scripting to solve problems or prove functionality
  • Ability to follow throughto completion on simultaneous assignments while remaining on schedule
  • Ability to quickly absorb technical information from documentation and on the job training
  • Knowledge of the following systems is a plus:
    • laser systems (alignment, theory, design)
    • electromechanical systems (stages, motors, electronics, boards)
    • control systems (feedback loops, PID control)
    • thermal systems (heating, cooling, temperature regulation, heat transfer)

The expected salary range for this position is $122,000 - $155,000 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
