OVERVIEW

The Dining Room attendant is responsible for the care of the dining hall during the week and/or weekend. Duties preparing the dining hall for meals, cleaning & disinfecting, washing dishes, organizing kitchen, ensuring all details are well taken care of, and working closely with other camp staff to ensure our guests receive the highest level of hospitality.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

ATTENDANT DUTIES:

  • Be in the dining room before the start of the meal for table set up according to the groups needs. You will follow the Detail Sheet provided by the guest service manager on how the dining hall is to be set up
  • Make coffee, re-supply, and clean the beverage counter if necessary
  • Be present at meals for group questions and field them to the appropriate staff
  • Assist in serving the meal as needed by the Food Services Manager
  • Take out trash, compost, and recycle. Re-line cans. Call maintenance to take out the trash
  • Clean dining hall windows and doors when needed
  • After guests have left the Dining Hall following meals, clean and check for cleanliness, wipe down tables & chairs, sweep, mop, and reset tables for next meal
  • Check, restock, and clean public bathrooms before and after meals in the dining hall, gatehouse, chapel, and craft house

DISHWASHER DUTIES:

  • Wash and store dishes, pots, and pans
  • Maintain cleanliness of all dish washing areas
  • Sweep the kitchen floor after each meal
  • Sweep and spot mop the dining room floor
  • Empty trash
  • Mop the kitchen floor after the last meal of the day
  • Prepare and clean pans, cleaning cloths, and spatulas for each table
  • Clean and maintain outside trash and mop storage
  • Assist the Food Service Manager and/or cook in any duties as requested in order to maintain a high level of efficiency in the kitchen operation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and demonstrate an ability to work with people, including community groups, participants, campers, and staff in an affable, concerned, and caring manner.
  • Must display the ability to and be accountable for the efficient scheduling of time and resources made available to perform tasks at hand.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and have ability to motivate others.
  • At least 1 year experience in guest hosting preferred
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Detail oriented, accurate and precise.
  • Capable of handling and controlling multiple projects.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with strong team player attitude.
  • Capable of maintaining high level of integrity.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Energetic, personable, and dependable.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver license.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards relating to assigned vehicles.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Publisher).
EQUIPMENT USED:

PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer and various housekeeping equipment such as vacuums.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to understand written information
