Job Purpose:

Manages the planning, development, and implementation of procedures for the testing and evaluation of standard and special devices. Manages the activities of the team and is responsible for staffing decisions, training and development,and performance management of the staff. Specifies tests to be performed, compiles data, and makes recommendations for changes required in testing equipment procedures, manufacturing processes, new testing requirements and/or design of testing equipment. Recommends the purchase of test equipment. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

  • To follow Sanmina's process -- as it pertains to Functional Test Support and Structural Test development -- and provide the deliverables that introduces new or First Time Build products and reporting of issues to Manufacturing Engineering.
  • A significant requirement of the Test Engineer's role is to monitor yield process performance through MESWeb and enhance through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coaching skills to lead the team towards achieving the overall group objectives such as:
    • functional and system test support;
    • timely release of test stations to Production;
    • addressing issues related to test station yield,
    • performance and capacity;
    • creation and update of documentation required for test
    • operator and debug technician support;
    • monitor and analyze test data, generate reports on test yields and test/product issues
  • Initiate and implement improvement plans to enhance test yields, cycle time and product quality.
  • Engages in technical discussions with existing or potential customers, which lead to winning new business opportunities for the organization.
  • Explains to the customers the test engineering group capabilities and Sanmina's test related processes (e.g. release of the new test stations to the production floor).
  • On new projects the Test Engineering Manager will define the requirements, planning, scheduling, monitoring milestones and costs.
  • Assigns employees areas of responsibility and monitor individual objectives of group members, based on overall group objectives and priorities. Balances workload in the test engineering group.
  • The role also includes providing technical guidance and training to less experienced team members, conducting independent research into complex engineering problems, to develop new operating policies, capabilities, and tests.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes process performance problems. Works closely with Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering groups on implementation of corrective actions.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives.
  • Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules.
  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements.
  • Participates in the operations engineering work within the organization by overseeing and advising others, or by contributing directly to the development of complex solutions.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years Experience in Test Engineering

Salary Range(annual): $120,000 - $140,000
