Job Description:

The Timing and Communication Group (TCG) at Microchip is actively seeking a post-silicon validation engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Create automation scripts in Python to automate configuration of programmable clock generators and collection of the post-silicon validation and characterization data
  • Create Python scripts and use other tools like Excel to create validation and characterization reports
  • Design and debug evaluation boards using Altium PCB design software
  • Work with scopes, frequency counters, signal and pulse generators, phase noise and spectrum analyzers, and other equipment in the lab
  • FA of failures during validation and characterization and of field returns
  • Review new product specifications, advise design teams on product manufacturability for MEMS timing-based products
  • Work with applications, marketing, product and reliability groups, for the release of new products, monitoring goals and schedules
  • Yield improvement and cost reduction activities

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment across multiple locations
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of semiconductors, statistics, analog and digital circuit theory and circuit analysis, and semiconductor IC testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Python, Excel, Visual Basic, C#, Altium
  • Microcontroller programming experience
  • Knowledge of device automation using GPIB bus
  • Knowledge of PLL principle of operation, LC and ring oscillators, MEMS, crystal oscillators, transmission line theory
  • Some knowledge of Analog and Digital simulation tools
  • Some experience with ATE systems

Pay Range:

We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $66,560 - $128,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
