OVERVIEW:

The Dish Room Crew washes all dishes used by the kitchen staff, campers, and staff members during meal times. The objective of this position is to ensure that all items are clean to maintain a healthy dining, kitchen, and dish area, to work as part of a team in maintaining an efficient turnover in the Dish Room, and to complete the daily operational routines of washing dishes, pots and pans, sweeping, mopping, trash runs, and maintaining a clean dishwashing area.

COMPENSATION:

  • Weekly salary starts at $340
  • Room and board included

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Dish Room Responsibilities:

  • Wash and put away all dishes, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all dishwashing areas.
  • Sweep kitchen floor as needed.
  • Empty trash.
  • Scrub and mop the kitchen floor after the last meal of the day.
  • Clean and maintain outside trash and mop storage area.
  • Clean Dish Room windows, window sills, and counters, clean carts, and polish/clean ice machine.
  • Assist the cooks in any duties as requested in an order to maintain a high level of efficiency in the kitchen operation.

Extra Duties:

  • Empty and reline all trashcans.
  • PM: sweep and mop Kitchen, Pantry, Dish Room, Storeroom, and Porch Floors.
  • Wash all trash cans and lids.
  • Clean all grease traps and windows.
  • Break down cardboard boxes.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly back Storeroom.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  • Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the end of the summer.
  • Assist with the opening and closing day procedures as requested by Assistant Camp Director.
  • Actively attend and participate in all evening programs and other camp activities.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual formation of campers and staff.
  • Be an appropriate and effective example for both campers and staff members, exhibiting Christ-like conduct, concern, and service.
  • Report any suspected child abuse issues to the Assistant Camp Director immediately and take necessary actions to report it properly.
  • Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Ability to work independently and with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to maintain good rapport and communication with other staff members.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord.
  • Preferred previous camping experience either as a camper or as a staff member.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
