Job Description
General information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking for a Linux Systems Engineer for it's San Jose, CA location. This role is responsible for designing, Implementing, and maintaining the Energy Market Management systems and environments.

Summary

Build and solve Linux production systems at scale. Multi-datacenter deployment and supporting a large-scale Linux environment with heterogeneous hardware. Build automation tools and scripts using Bash, Python, etc. Design and support orchestration pipeline using Ansible. Fix and address issues with UNIX and TCP/IP network stack components. Design and support Linux systems (RedHat/CentOS etc) including automated OS installation, Linux Hardening, compile and validate various kernels, package management, OS lifecycle management, diagnostic, and performance troubleshooting/profiling.

Key Qualifications

  • Extensive Linux experience, especially with RHEL or compatible systems like CentOS
  • Excellent application troubleshooting skills using debuggers such as GDB, DBX, Totalview
  • Excellent documentation skills for systems cookbooks
  • Experience with programming languages like Python
  • Solid understanding of Git Operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's in computer science, IT or Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in key qualifications
  • Has Linux Certification like RHCA (Redhat Certified Architect)

Additional Requirements a plus

  • Experience with alerting, monitoring, and deployments.
  • Knowledge of Messaging Systems such as ActiveMQ or Kafka
  • Knowledge of Web Servers such as apache httpd, tomcat etc
  • Knowledge of compilers such OneAPI, GCC
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and Cloud Technologies
