Overview:
Veeco's process equipment solutions enable the manufacturing of LEDs, displays, power electronics, hard drives, compound semiconductors, MEMS, semiconductors advanced packaging and wireless chips. We are the market leader in Laser Annealing, MOCVD, MBE, Ion Beam, Wet Etch single wafer processing and other advanced thin film process technologies. Veeco continues to grow and is looking for a high-level Electrical Engineer.


The candidate will join the Electrical Team, focusing on Laser Annealing and Advanced Packaging Systems. Key responsibilities will include designing new system architecture, evaluating system interconnects, and integrating newly developed control systems into the existing design. This role will involve working with analog, digital, and AC/DC power circuits. Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams in the lab and on the production floor to determine connection points, cable routing, and lengths for Veeco products. A thorough understanding of the complex workings of the system will be necessary to effectively assist the Engineering group in diagnosing issues and implementing corrective solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical subsystem and system-level designs for complex semiconductor capital equipment by studying customer and internal requirements
  • Work closely with senior R&D team members to translate concepts into integrated products
  • Execute detailed design of AC/DC/Digital electrical systems, subsystems, board layouts, cables, and cable harnesses
  • Design sophisticated safety interlocks for semiconductor equipment
  • Evaluate designs to support SEMI and International safety standards
  • Perform hands-on engineering tests, and collect, analyze, and present data to project teams
  • Develop and document calibration methods
  • Support project planning by defining scope and tasks, and estimating effort and cost for product and feature development on a range of equipment platforms
  • Generate reports, drawings, and other documents as needed and contribute to technical and program design reviews under direction of program managers
  • Document designs for production release
  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing and field issues as needed

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of experience or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 6 years of experience is required. Must have experience reviewing and analyzing system interconnects with digital, analog, and AC/DC power circuits. Experience with AutoCAD is required. Experience with Semiconductor equipment product development or similar industry experience is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in electrical and electronic design for industrial products
  • Designing new systems architecture using EtherCAT
  • Problem solving complex capital equipment electrical architecture
  • Design, document new cable designs, test and verify integration
  • Experience with electrical signal power and control distribution on large industrial complex capital equipment
  • Familiarity with SEMI standards including S2, S8, UL, F47, CE, RoHS, and other regulatory standards is required
  • Experience in OrCAD and AutoCAD design with understanding of PADs layout
  • Must possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and a demonstrated ability to excel in a matrix-based multi-tasking project environment
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and results clearly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skillsa

The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 - $172,000 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
