Title: Engineer IV - Geoseismic

Location: 2077 Gateway Place Suite 550, San Jose, CA 95110

Duties:Interpret geologic data and geotechnical/geophysical investigation data and in-situ test data, identify and develop geological cross-sections and site-specific ground models along with soil dynamic properties including soil shear modulus reduction and damping curves. Perform one dimensional (1D) equivalent-linear and nonlinear site response analyses propagating a suite of ground motion time histories through site-specific ground models and evaluate site response results in terms of ground motion parameters, shear strain, shear stress, lateral displacement, and strain-compatible soil properties. Perform sensitivity analyses for understanding implications of the uncertainty in ground model parameters. Conduct 1D nonlinear effective stress site response analysis incorporating excess pore water pressure generation. Perform probabilistic seismic hazard analyses (PSHA) using the US Geological Survey's PSHA code and the National Seismic Hazard Models. Estimate seismic hazards for a project site from PSHA and perform hazard de-aggregation for identifying key seismic sources and their hazard contributions. Develop seismic design response spectra in accordance with design standards such as ASCE 7, ASCE41, AASHTO, and Caltrans. Evaluate earthquake-induced soil liquefaction susceptibility for a site using the simplified procedures and identify potentially liquefiable subsurface material. Perform pile analyses (static & pseudo- static) estimating pile lateral displacement, moment, axial and shear forces for a given loading condition. Perform slope stability analyses under static and dynamic loading conditions. Determine seismic lateral earth pressures and their distribution for excavations. Develop automation tools for post-processing outputs from various numerical analyses using program languages such as Python. Position is fixed location based in San Jose, CA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed. 10% travel required for site investigation, inspection, and data collection.
