GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Manager supervises activities of the Value Added facility's maintenance functions and personnel. This role is responsible for maintaining the general condition and working order of the facility and ensuring minimal downtime due to maintenance issues.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Leads maintenance department and supervises salaried maintenance supervisors and hourly maintenance staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring all operating equipment is functioning as designed and performing in a cost-effective manner while maintaining industry best safety standards and quality at all times.
  • Manages a multi-million-dollar budget and inventory that will ensure zero down time due to spare parts availability.
  • Sets staff departmental expectations to include accountability for all phases of maintenance functions. Delivers results and works cross-functionally to further the best interest of overall plant operations.
  • Responsible for keeping building and grounds maintenance in proper condition and compliance.
  • Supports the Engineering Department with project management by assisting with planning facility projects and improvements.
  • Follows all food safety requirements and GMP's as applicable for this position.
  • Ensures the integrity and continued operations of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.


Required Skills

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience: 5-7 years maintenance management in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry and in a cold room environment. Candidates must have a strong track record of creating, implementing, and maintaining preventative maintenance SOP's. Candidates should have experience prepping financial budgets while maintaining financial accountability for a maintenance department. Experience in establishing programs such as work order tracking, inventory accountability, training and development and job assignment tracking, and JDE preferred.

  • Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of State and Federal environmental issues, PSM compliance, and Maintenance best practices in a fast-paced manufacturing facility. Computer skills using a variety of software program a decided plus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual Spanish and English skills preferred.

  • Other: Must have the ability to work under pressure, time constraints, and make quick thought-out decisions in a timely manner. Must maintain regular, acceptable attendance and report to work on time. Must be able to follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand, and follow posted work rules/procedures and accept constructive criticism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manages and directs between 30-35 hourly employees and 3-4 salaried employees.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexibility to work varied hours required, including weekends and holidays. Must be on call via cell phone in off-hours. Need to be able to assist in problem solving beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Required Experience

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, business, or closely related field highly desired.
  • Lean 6 Sigma certification highly desired.

PAY RATE:

  • $115,000 - $130,000 Annually
