The Position

Roche Sequencing Solutions & Roche Molecular Lab are developing new technologies to radically improve genetic and diagnostic testing. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual who is passionate about technology development and diagnostic tools. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will play a leading role in the research and early development efforts for new technology, instruments and platforms associated with our next-generation DNA sequencing and molecular diagnostics workflows. We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of excellence in developing novel technology for biological applications

The Opportunity:

This is a hands-on, interdisciplinary role with a mix of responsibilities that include

  • Solving challenging problems and inventing new technology

  • Advancing the start-of-the-art in DNA sequencing and diagnostic workflows

  • Collaborating with other scientists and engineers on a small, agile team as well as across the broader organization

  • Developing new workflows, protocols and assays

Who you are:

We are looking for candidates with a high degree of motivation, ingenuity, and resourcefulness to help us solve problems, invent new technology, and develop cutting-edge products. Candidates should also have

  • A Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required

  • A solid publication record that must include at least one first-authored publication

  • Solid understanding of physics, engineering, chemistry and molecular biology fundamentals is required

  • Expertise in microfabrication techniques, with an emphasis on building microfluidic or MEMS devices using a mixture of elastomeric materials as well as inorganic materials such as glass, silica, silicon and inert metals is required

  • Experience with biological assays or workflows involving nucleic acids, enzymes, antibodies, and/or cells is required

  • Experience with microscale electrochemistry, electrophoresis, DEP, ECL or EOF is preferred

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $64,800 and $120,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
