Summary

Performance precision dimensional inspections and layouts on complex castings, forgings, sheet metal, machined parts, assemblies, gages, fixtures and tooling. Operates and programs the 3-Axis Coordinate Measuring Machine. May work from verbal instructions, sketches, and drawings on development and production programs.

Responsibilities

* Determines methods and sequences necessary to inspect raw, semi-finished and finished experimental, developmental or first article complex parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with our customer and company specifications and quality requirements

* Operates the 3-Axis Coordinate Measuring Machine for the inspection of complex parts

* Establishes inspection routine and writes programs for the Measuring Machine, recording of values and variances from engineering requirements

* Inspect first run and production parts where standard checking devices are not available and special inspection tools are required

* Improvise or adapt inspection measuring instruments as needed

* Plan inspection procedures (i.e., MRC) and methods on production and developmental projects, where no previous inspection standards have been established, so that all subsequent inspections will be accomplished in accordance with approved inspection practices.

* Prepare and maintain required inspection

* Assist in the activities of other inspectors as directed.

* Train other inspectors.

* Perform related work requiring equal or lesser skill.

* Programs CMM

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Certifications/License and/or Registrations: High school diploma, or GED, or knowledge of shop mathematics and 10 + years experience in aerospace Quality Assurance, or a combination of the above, and 10 + years experience in aerospace Quality Assurance.

Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications, competencies, abilities, and any physical demands if required.

* Ability to use all types of inspection instruments and precision measuring devices.

* Ability to make coordination checks to tolerance and make part layouts to establish inspection reference lines and points.

* Read and analyze complicated blueprints and drawings and have a basic knowledge of positional tolerancing.

* Knowledge of plain and solid geometry, trigonometry and related mathematics required for making accurate measurements checks, operation of microprocessors, computers and printers.

* Possess knowledge of shop practices and have a broad knowledge of metals and their reaction to all types of processes normally used by the company.

* Knowledge of inspection requirements, company quality standards and military specifications.

* Ability to keep accurate inspection records and communicate directly with Engineering personnel

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:

  1. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  2. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
  3. Safety glasses, shop coat/apron, proper shoes.
  4. Occasional exposure to shop element such as noise, dust, odors and fumes.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $37.75/hr.- $40.85/hr.

This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a US citizen, lawful permanent resident ["green card" holders], or have refugee or asylee status).
