GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position supervises Internal Farming accountants and ensures all critical department processes are met. These processes include supervising Internal Farming accounting and financial reporting, implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with U.S. GAAP. This position requires leadership capability as well as accounting and finance acumen.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

* Manage daily operations of the Internal Farming Accounting team to ensure production of complete, accurate and timely transactions, statements and financial reports are in compliance with policies and procedures and in accordance with US GAAP under the guidance of the FP Controller.

* Manages and participates in the period close process and partners with other Finance/Accounting teams.

* Manage the preparation of Internal Farming deliverables to ensure timely and accurate submission to DFV Corporate including Balance Sheet and Income Statement variance explanations; quarterly and annual reporting templates as directed by the FP Controller.

* Under the guidance of the FP Controller performs account analysis and review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure compliance with Dole accounting policies.

* Coordinate the creation and maintenance of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP's) for the Internal Farming accounting tasks.

* Be able to perform in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines.

* Must be comfortable with various computer systems and programs.

* Able to deal with ambiguity.

* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Provides orientation and training for new staff; establishes individual and team performance goals to review, coach and monitor performance against goals; discusses significant operations issues and review staff training and development requirements; establishes goals and measures to track the success of the department.

* Prepare ad hoc analysis and participate in special projects as required and performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

* 3-5 Years of accounting experience (prior supervisory experience a plus )

* Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities with capability to work through complex business issues at our nursery and farms, requiring both interpretation and judgment.

* Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.

* Strong experience in general ledger accounting.

* Highly motivated and flexible individual capable of leading an organization while managing multiple projects and activities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, dynamic environment.

* Must have the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects to ensure tight deadlines are met.

* Ability to understand business requirements and define and implement technical system solutions and automated processes.

* Ability to work collaboratively across various Dole and DFV departmental functions.

* Excellent leadership, planning, supervisory and communication skills are required.

* Strong leadership abilities in developing staff to ensure timely and quality execution against expectations.

* Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interface professionally with all levels of management.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying information in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner to all levels of management and staff

* Advance Excel skills (working with big amounts of Data).

* Report writing experience, Power BI preferred.

* Able to communicate and work in projects with the IT department.

* Experience in Agricultural, distribution, and manufacturing operations preferred.

* Strong attention to detail and a desire to assume new responsibilities.

* Team player, willing to support other team members as needed.

* English is required, Spanish knowledge a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 15 lbs.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

* BS/BA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance is required

PAY RATE:

  • $90,000 - $100,000 Annually
