Senior Accountant


Our client, a medical device company, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team.

LOCATION:
San Jose, CA. Hybrid capacity: 3 days/week (Tues, Wed, Thurs) in the office.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing assigned journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, supporting SOX compliance testing and reporting, analyzing key financial data, and creating management responses.
This position will report to the Assistant Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare journal entries, assigned Balance Sheet reconciliations, reconcile monthly general ledger balances for assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure alignment with policy.
  • Assist in month-end closing and preparation of the US monthly financial reporting package; primarily responsible for US Balance Sheet flux and updating key data points for working capital.
  • Analyze financials and detail variance for US balance sheet accounts to discuss with management.
  • Discover and recommend opportunities for process improvements and strengthening internal controls. Drive cross-functional project implementations, leveraging prior experience and knowledge of industry best practices. Lead assigned projects to successful implementation.
  • Participate in Kaizen events as a finance team representative on process reviews, enhancements, and problem-solving events. Complete assigned actions from events within due dates.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, proficient in GAAP and financial accounting standards and pronouncements.
  • Multiple years of experience with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license within a Big 4 Accounting firm.
  • Multiple years of experience in general accounting.
  • It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
    • Oracle ERP Experience
    • US Domestic Sales & Use Tax
    • US Government reporting requirements (R&D Tax Credits, Income Tax reporting, Manufacturing Data) and other parent company reporting requirements.


COMPENSATION:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $115K - $135K + bonus. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
