Job Summary

Reporting to the Chair of the UCSF Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department, the Dentist will primarily provide dental services at Dental Oncology at UCSF Health's Bakar Precision Cancer Medicine Building. This position provides the management of medically complex and special-needs patients in both outpatient and hospital settings which requires proficiency in performing all aspects of general dentistry including but not limited to exams, radiographic interpretation, restorative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery. This position will be located primarily at the UCSF Mission Bay Campus, with occasional duties performed at the UCSF Parnassus Campus Special Needs outpatient clinic or in the hospital operating room and the Laguna Honda Hospital.

The incumbent will hold a concomitant academic without salary appointment.

This is a contract role for 1 year from the date of hire.

ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY
Our laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach of molecular, biochemical, in vitro electrophysiological, and behavioral techniques to evaluate mechanisms underlying pain and analgesia. We are investigating signal transduction mechanisms for mechanical, thermal and chemical stimulus-induced activation of sensory neurons and mechanisms underlying sensitization of responses to these stimuli. We also investigate neural and endocrine (stress axis) contributions to inflammation, the immune response and pain.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD Degree
  • At least 2 years of experience providing general dentistry in a hospital cased setting.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes
  • Must be eligible for licensure or special permit in the State of California
  • Obtain and maintain UCSF credentials and privileges including current licensure, DEA registration, and BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic training
  • Bi-lingual fluency preferred: Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin speaking

License/Certification

  • Must be eligible for licensure or special permit in the State of California
  • Obtain and maintain UCSF credentials and privileges including current licensure, DEA registration, and BLS certification
