Job Description

This position may be located in either our Santa Cruz or Seaside locations and will require occasional travel around the Bay Area.

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for purchasing construction materials for building materials branches with less than $4MM in annual purchases, and work in alignment with Graniterock's Strategic Priorities and business objectives.

Essential Job Accountabilities

1. Comply, understand, and promote safety initiatives to ensure "Safety Before All Else."
2. Tracks purchases from purchase order creation to receipt of goods while monitoring vendor quality.
3. Collaborate with other purchasers in identifying cost saving practices for bulk material orders to ensure highest value and increase margins.
4. Manage physical inventory through routine cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory balance.
5. Collaborate with accounting team to reconcile month end closure to minimize variances while ensuring accurate financial statements.
6. Ensure vendor payments and accounts payable are authorized timely and accurately with the necessary approvals and documentation.
7. Manage cost changes by individual products and implement necessary price changes into Point-of-Sale System to maintain Gross Margin goals.

Education and Work Experience

* 2+ years of purchasing or inventory management experience preferred.
* Experience in construction materials industry preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Must be detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
* Basic knowledge of construction building materials products including cultured stone, natural stone, pavers and landscaping products
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
* Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
* Ability to learn Graniterock Point-of-Sale system.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges.
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and all types of customers.
