The Operations Support Central & Reporting (OSCaR) Senior Consultant within Internal Audit (IAAS) will be responsible for supporting the operations, methodology, and associated tools and technologies of internal audit and advisory services. This position is also responsible for supporting the OSCaR leader in the implementation of process and technological improvements as well as serving as project lead on department projects and initiatives that drive operational efficiency, quality and financial performance.


If you are located in Minnesota, you will have the flexibility to work remotely *, as well as work in the office as you take on some tough challenges. You must be able to come into the Minnetonka office a few days per week.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Internal Audit department operations, methodology, technologies and tools, and continuous improvement efforts in alignment with direction provided by the OSCaR Leader, IAAS leadership, IIA audit standards, the Internal / External Audit Policy and the Charter of the UHG Board of Directors Audit Committee
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and other core department documentation are comprehensive, up-to-date, and in compliance with applicable standards and requirements
  • Prepare and distribute internal reporting systems to measure, monitor, and track progress toward audit plan execution, department goals and other initiatives. Partner with Internal Audit's Data Analytics and Digital Transformation team on various data driven engagements for assigned segment areas
  • Develop and execute the IAAS Quality Assurance Improvement Program (QAIP) supporting ongoing adherence to internal Policies and Standards and the IIA International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and Global Internal Audit Standards; including serving as lead for the periodic external quality assessment
  • Respond to third party audit requests
  • Support the development of an internal and external communications strategy to support employee engagement and establish the IAAS brand, including trend analysis and action plans based on feedback from internal team members and business partners. This also will include executing on new communications strategies
  • Lead initiatives that support the team priorities and reflect the organization's core values and deliverables
  • Develop expertise in core technology utilized by the department, serve as a subject matter resource with deep knowledge in one or more critical areas
  • Serve as the project lead for special projects and initiatives undertaken by the department and/or the company
  • This position may also include active participation in risk-based audits and internal controls over financial reporting projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, technology or related discipline
  • 4+ years of relevant business experience
  • Understanding of auditing concepts and principles, and how to apply them


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant assurance certification (CPA, CFE, CIA or CISA)
  • 5+ years of relevant business experience including internal audit or public accounting experience
  • 1+ years of experience utilizing BI visualization tools such as DOMO, Tableau, or MS Power BI
  • Experience with internal controls over financial reporting (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley, MAR, SOC)
  • Experience with maintenance of policies, procedures, and other core departmental documentation
  • Experience working in a complex IT/IS environment
  • Health insurance or related insurance experience
