| **This position is eligible to be based out of multiple Verizon Wireless locations in the West area The Business Development (BD) Partner Manager in Consumer Electronic Devices is responsible for the end to end Business Development and Partner Management across the embedded Consumer Electronics ecosystem. This complex ecosystem includes the Consumer Electronics Device OEMs, ODMs, Module manufacturers, Service and Application partners. The BD Partner Manager is critical to achieving Open Development’s goal of becoming the connected Consumer Electronics industry wireless carrier leader. This shall be achieved through building the strongest relationships across the entire ecosystem, being easiest to do business with and delivering results. This role demands an intensely proactive and daily interaction with our strategic partners, as well as coordination with a multitude of internal stakeholders to remove obstacles and drive business velocity. The BD Partner Manager accomplishes this success through best in class account management. This requires being a strategic thinker, detailed oriented and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. A critical task of the BD Partner Manager is their responsibility to negotiate with the OEMs/ODMs and secure exclusive rights on WAN enabled Consumer Electronics devices. It is through successful completion of these responsibilities that Verizon Wireless will maintain it’s position as the market leader. Extensive travel is required for this position. - Build trust and long term relationships across embedded Consumer Electronic device ecosystem by providing end-to-end holistic Partner management. - Lead negotiations on a variety of transactions, partnerships, and agreements. Negotiate Agreements (develop letters of intent and memorandums of understanding to establish clear guiding principles, term sheet, definitive agreement, and device exclusivity addendums) - Full accountability for managing extremely large and complex projects with multiple sub-projects, which may span multiple OEMs, Partners and/or Verizon Wireless Business Units and require senior level oversight and extensive executive communications - Manage project risks including mitigation & contingency plans, escalations and problem resolutions - Become industry expert on all aspects of the embedded consumer electronics industry including: - Entire product development, manufacturing and lifecycle of a consumer electronics device - OS platforms - 3G and 4G Module Partners - CPU chipset partners - Cloud Services - Applications and Services that drive user experience differentiation and potential monetization - Consumer Electronic device refresh cycles - Lead and manage the strategic assessment of business markets, technology applications, and potential partnerships focused on helping the company meet its overall growth objectives by assisting Open Development partners in bringing world-class products to market - Provide guidance to a small team of Business Development Consultants and Interns - Lead or support the production of press releases, white papers, marketing documents and communications related to assigned partnerships - Devise global strategy for inducing partners to frame and tie their strategic product and service offerings to Verizon’s Open Development program - Event Coordination (ensure key partners are invited to Verizon Wireless led and sponsored events) | |

| * Education: Bachelors Degree. Master degree or MBA preferred. BA/BS in Marketing or Engineering. Advanced degree (MA/MS or MBA) or equivalent experience desired * Other: * 6-8 years experience in channel or alliance development and management, business development, or sales, with 8-12 years overall business, marketing, product management or related experience * 5+ years wireless or mobile content industry experience * 5+ years of Account Management experience in a sales role * At least 5+ years of successful, progressively responsible business development experience including: o Strategic Planning o Wireless technologies or mobile content o E-Business strategies and models o Product & Program Management o Financial Analysis/Business Case Development o Licensing o Contract Development and Negotiation o Qualifying opportunities o Competitive analysis * Strong track record of identifying and delivering creative opportunities to achieve business organization goals * Superior technical understanding of wireless data technology * Superior leadership and communication skills * Working knowledge and experience in building new business models and in structuring, negotiating, and closing partnership agreements * Ability to effectively manage relationships with cross-functional partners to drive projects toward completion * Strong organizational skills * Strong presentation skills * Proficiency in Power Point, Excel, Word and other standard office computer applications * Consumer Electronics industry experience required | |
